Just over half (62 percent) of students live on campus. According to the school, “There are many activities going on during the school year. The Student Involvement Office helps students discover how to get involved in activities on campus and in the community. Academics and Learning Environment
College of Idaho has 75 full-time and 38 part-time faculty members, offering a student-to-faculty ratio of 12:1. The most common course size is 10 to 19 students. College of Idaho offers 31 majors with the most popular being health, business and history and least popular being elementary education, religion and sports/fitness center management. The school has a general core requirement. Cooperative education is available. All first-year students must maintain a 2.0 GPA or higher to avoid academic probation, and a minimum overall GPA of 2.0 is required to graduate. At the College of Idaho, new students participate in the First Year Experience, which is geared to provide “living and learning experiences that facilitates a successful transition to a college community centered on exacting scholarship and life-long learning.” The program includes a First Year Theme and Book in which a theme is chosen and then a book supporting that theme is read before the fall semester begins. From there, discussions of the book are held, as well as guest speakers, films, debates, theatrical productions and even special tie-in menus in the dining halls.
