PRAISE
for the RED HAND ADVENTURES
“O’Neill has an eye for detail, atmosphere, and action…this is a rousing period piece.”
—Publishers Weekly
“Whether intended for a YA or adult audience, this is a book the entire family can enjoy reading…The book reads like a Boy’s Own adventure and is filled with action involving bandits, pirates and rebels, reminding the reader of such grand entertainments as Rudyard Kipling’s Kim, Michael Chabon’s Gentlemen of the Road and John Milius’ The Wind and the Lion…Four Stars.”
—Kenneth Salikof for IndieReader
“Debut author O’Neill incorporates a great deal of cultural and historical context in his story…and will make the readers feel as though they have traveled back in time and fallen into that world. An exciting, exotic tale…The cliffhanger ending all but demands that readers jump to the next installment of the series.”
—Kirkus Reviews
“Block out the next few hours, because you won’t want to put this book down!”
—Kevin Max, Founder and Editor, 1859 Oregon’s Magazine

For Rebels of the Kasbah
KCamp (Denver, CO USA): Great to have for Battle of the Books.
Eva Jones (Age: 11 Grade: 5): Rebels of the Kasbah is an amazing novel. It is spun together with foreign elements, gore, trickery, and leadership. One excellent aspect is the personality you get from each character. The description he gives is impeccable—it feels like you’re standing right there in the scene. I don’t know how Joe O’Neill did it, but he did!
Xander ForeverBookish (Top Middle Reader Book Review Blog rated it 5 of 5 stars): AMAZING! You NEED to read this!
Books on the Edge (Middle Reader Review): It reminds one of the classics like Treasure Island, Oliver Twist, and Aladdin while written in a language suitable for young readers of today. Yup it’s one of those books that you hope your son or daughter would read and find heroes among its pages….and who couldn’t use a well written hero or two?
Dr. Jean Lowery, CEO Battle of the Books: “When I sat down to begin reading Rebels of the Kasbah, I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough until I reached the last page and said—NOOOOO, I need to know what happens next! “
Franny: I could feel the sand stinging my face, this story is so descriptive, and so creatively told by the author. Rebels was heartwarming, exciting and inspiring. I can hardly wait for the sequel!
Heather P (M.Ed.-Reading & Language Arts-Former Classroom Teacher-Book Lover!): Hands down a great book for middle school readers, all the way to adults!
This Kid Reviews Books (Top Middle Reader Review Blog): O’Neill writes a captivating story that kept me on the edge of my seat! I couldn’t put down! The characters are believable and…have a unique personality.
For Wrath of the Caid
Margaret rated it 4 of 5 stars on Good Reads: The kids at Remann Hall Book Club truly love this series. They no sooner finish one book, than they want the next one. I love the maps, the sense of adventure in far-away places, and the longing the stories create for the reader to know more.
Marie rated it 5 of 5 stars on Good Reads: I was so excited to finally read this book! It picked up right where Rebels of the Kasbah left off and just amazed me again. I liked the fast-paced action of this story and how it takes you all over the world and back again! There were some good humorous parts that made me laugh, some scary scenarios that made my heart race, and an ending that once again makes me NEED the next book! I highly recommend Wrath of the Caid.
I Be Readin: Can we get up and cheer for this one? This novel reminds me of the famous series written by J. K. Rowling. No…there are no wizards or broomsticks, but the battle of good versus evil continues in O’Neill’s writing and you can’t help but get caught up in this story, and would totally adapt to big screen.
