Health Considerations
At the time of writing no immunisations are required to enter Switzerland, unless you’ve recently been in an area of yellow fever or cholera infection, in which case an International Health Certificate will be needed. It’s also sensible to be up to date with tetanus vaccination.
In view of the increase in the viral infection known as tick-borne encephalitis (TBE), walkers ought to consider protection. TBE is a debilitating and potentially life-threatening disease, spread by the bite of the Ixodes tick that lies in wait on the underside of bushes and grasses in large areas of Europe, including Switzerland.
