Military K-9 Unit Christmas—Valerie Hansen and Laura Scott, December 2018
When the host goeth forth against thine enemies,
then keep thee from every wicked thing.
—Deuteronomy 23:9
Life really does imitate art. When we were writing this series, we heard the news each day. Hurricanes, floods and mass shootings, not to mention other horrible things happening in the world. Sometimes our stories ring true to what can take place in real life. We write to entertain and to enlighten, always offering the promise of the Lord’s grace and forgiveness. We don’t take that lightly, but with careful prayer and consideration.
This was a tough story to write but we all agreed our portrayal of our military characters had to be handled with care and respect. We wanted to get things right.
I hope I did that with Oliver and Ava’s story. Any mistakes are my own. I love and admire our service members and I hope I can bring some honor and glory to what they do every day to keep us safe.
My story has a happy ending and that’s why I write romance and romantic suspense. We can never give up on faith, hope and love. I pray you cling to those things even in a world that sometimes is scary and sad.
Until next time, may the angels watch over you, always.

To the men and women of the US military. We respect and love all of you, and we will be forever grateful for your dedication and sacrifice. And especially to Wilberto Garcia, my air force son-in-law. Stay safe!
