СКАЧАТЬ two parts – first is to make yourself accountable for the tasks on your plate and the second is to provide accountability to your team or your companions whom you are working with to achieve success. The latter plays an important role if you are a leader.

Completing tasks is easy but getting work/tasks completed by others (your team, friends, family, etc.) is where you need true leadership skills. To push through when things get tough, you have to hold yourself accountable unless you bring in outside help like a coach who provides it for you.

      1 Review your goals

Reviewing your goal setting process regularly holds significance in itself. It keeps your goals alive, active and at the top of your mind. During this review process, you can convert your entire plan into small and discrete action steps and work on them accordingly.

      1 Feedback

An honest feedback is likely to increase your scope of improvement. It makes sense to have someone besides yourself who can provide valuable feedback at critical junctures, like a friend or a mentor. You get to know your fallouts, high and lows and then you can work on your incompetency to become successful.

2.2 The Golden Rules of Goal Setting

1 Set Goals that motivate you

While setting your goals, it is important that they motivate you. This means making sure that they are important to you, and that there is value in achieving them. Motivation is another key to accomplish goals. Unless you are motivated to achieve something in life, you will not be excited to work on it or work for it, and unless you work to achieve something, you do not get it. Not in this world at least!

      1 Set SMART Goals

For goals to be powerful, they need to be SMART!

      S Specific

      M Measurable

      A Attainable

      R Relevant and Realistic

      T Time-Bounded

image

      (i) Specific

Your goal must be clear and well-defined. Generalized goals lead to generalized results. You need to precisely define what you need and where you want to end up in order achieving them.

      (ii) Measurable

Success is achieved when it is measurable. And you can measure the degree of success only when you include precise amounts, dates and other dimensions of measuring it. For example, if your goal is to get up early in the morning until you set a fixed time for yourself how can you measure it? Say, you wake up at 9 am daily and to make it early, you set your waking time as 8 am. It means you are moving towards your goal in the right way and are getting up early by 1 hour every day. This is important to measure the degree of your success.

      (iii) Attainable

Ensure that your goals are feasible to achieve and are attainable. If not 100%, at least some portions or tasks should be achievable in a noted period of time. Else, it would only demotivate you and shatter your self-confidence.

However, resist the urge to set goals that are too easy. Accomplishing a goal that you didn't have to work hard for can be anticlimactic at best, and can also make you fear setting future goals that carry a risk of non-achievement.

      (iv) Relevant and Realistic

Your goals should be relevant to the path of your life and your career that you choose. Do not complicate your life and goals by scattering them and making them inconsistent with your other life goals, else you will fritter your life away.

Also, it should be realistic. A goal has to be something that we can reasonably make “real” or a “reality” in our lives. You have to be able to say, even if it is a tremendously stretching goal, that yes, indeed, it is entirely realistic—that you could make it, just that you need A, B or C things to make it possible. But the bottom line is that it is achievable in reality.

      (v) Time-Bounded

Every goal should have a timeframe attached to it. In technical terms, we call it a deadline. A deadline is a must when you are targeting anything in life else there are high chances of losing the sight of your goals. One of the powerful aspects of a great goal is that it has an end—a time in which you are shooting to accomplish it. As time goes by, you work on it because you don’t want to get behind, and you work diligently because you want to meet the deadline. While working on a deadline, your sense of urgency increases and success will knock your door a lot more soon.

1 Set goals related to the priorities

The plan of action that you work for should have priorities set.

For example, if you have 100 bucks and you want to spend them. You then plan to buy an apartment for 100 bucks and spend the complete amount or instead you will buy a car for 60 bucks, plan a holiday for 30 bucks and donate the remaining 20 bucks. It is totally up to you and your life priorities.

Life is all about priorities and you need to set it appropriately to achieve success. If the right priority order is not set in the plan of actions, then you will mess it up all and the execution might go for a toss leading to a complete disaster.

2.3 Setting Daily Goals: Importance and Purpose

How many people actually engage in daily goal setting? Or rather call it as active goal setting, opposed to the passive goal setting that is set only once in a while.

Successful people “think” success all the time. That is why their goals are firmly lodged in their subconscious. The subconscious is brilliant at prioritizing. It listens to you and gauges from your thoughts what you think is the most important task.

This means that what you think about most of the time is what the Subconscious will think is the most important thing for you and will try to find creative solutions. If you think about problems, the Subconscious will try to find you more problems. If you think about solutions, goals, and dreams, it will try to make them come true.

      2.3.1 Importance of Daily Goals

Daily goal setting is an integral part of any successful routine because it allows us to weigh and analyze just where we stand on a day-to-day basis. Since it’s easy to lose sight of our long-term goals, especially when dealing with the millions of distractions in our lives, daily goal setting allows us to stay on track and on point.

      2.3.2 Purpose of Daily Goals

Daily goals allow us to act on the micro while focusing on the macro. Long-term goals are great, but they’re easy to lose sight of.
