      Nevertheless, my point is that within Adele’s catastrophic love-life was an opportunity. In this situation, the opportunity was to take all of that raw emotion and package it in a way that might touch others and might even HELP others to see that we are not alone in life’s emotional roller-coaster journey and if the journey hasn’t killed us… then what are the gifts lay in wait for us should we be brave enough to learn from our experience and strong enough to move on?

      In some way or another everyone that we come into contact with, even for the briefest of moments, has come to assist us and us to assist them in becoming the best that we all can be. Some beautiful people do it intentionally, most people do it without even realising. For example; the tough defender on the opposing football team that makes you a quicker centre forward. The annoying nagging boss keeps you focused at all times. Apple keeps Microsoft sharp, Aston Martin keeps Jaguar pushing forward and Burger King keeps McDonald’s on it’s toes.

      As it is with mankind so it is with man and woman on a personal level. Within every catastrophe is an opportunity for some kind of growth. The bigger the catastrophe, the bigger the potential for growth. When the source of the opportunity is acknowledged then there is a realisation that the hardship and distress were not for nothing. Certain elements of that hardship have subsequently made you an expert in the things THAT YOU NO LONGER WANT IN YOUR LIFE. And knowing what you do not want makes it easier to find what you DO WANT. You have also become a wiser more able person in the process.

      All of your ‘failed’ relationships were never meant to last and with all that they gave you they should not be classified as ‘failures.’ They came to be, in order to ’teach’ you and your ex-partner, to ‘prime’ you and to get you ready for a relationship where you can really thrive, blossom and excel. You may be in THAT relationship now, it may be yet to come. But when it does come you will be ready because of the ’Chinese Catastrophes’ that occurred before…There were gifts in everyone of them. Perhaps no flowers, no chocolates and maybe no Aston Martin.

      But if you choose to look deep enough, you may find gifts of strength, self-preservation, endurance, will-power, positivity-in the face of negativity, cool, intelligence, inspiration, enterprise, self-belief, perhaps even resurrection. These are YOUR WELL EARNED Grammy’s, the universe’s daily version of Hollywood once yearly event. These are the awards for your performance that you can take with you anywhere! Once you know that you have them, you can count on them at anytime and they will work for you and get more efficient the more you use them. All that’s left for me to say as I open the envelope is,

      ”For winning in LIFE, the Grammy goes to… YOU!”

      Now I have another written task for you and I think you can guess what it is. What “good” has come out of any of the main “wrongs” that been done to you. This could be things that you may have already touched on during meditation or even things environmental, or genetic, or things you see as fate. Nevertheless, there was a positive side to these occurrences, what were they? List them in your own shorthand style to be elaborated and analysed later. It could look something like the following example:

      1) The bullying by John Smith made me take up Karate. Now I feel confident that I can protect my family. OR-

      2) My mother’s cooking was so bad that as a teenager I had to prepare my own food. Now I’m a top-class cook.

      So we’ll call these examples of positive arriving from negative, Chinese Catastrophe’s and I sincerely hope I’m not offending anyone Chinese by using this term.

      South African militant Steven Biko was tortured and eventually killed for his beliefs. Nelson Mandela shared the same principles and was imprisoned for over twenty-five years for his convictions. At the time of his admission on to Robin Island his wife and colleagues were undoubtedly devastated at losing yet another leader, this time to a prison sentence. But that prison sentence may have saved his life. For when he emerged more than a quarter of a century later, he found many of his former ANC comrades had been killed. He though, emerged at the time when his country was ready for him. He soon became South Africa’s president and went on to radically change the continent as well as the mind-set of its inhabitants.
