      The shocking future has already gone,

      The sense of God expects my love to come!

      собранье веское нотаций,

      я попытался разобраться,

      кто и когда был виноват

      (об этом речь вел диссертант).

      Платон как будто витьеват,

      а Гегель – хитр и злонамерен,

      и сомневающийся Кант

      был виноват не в меньшей мере.

      Я постигал, что Юм – не ум,

      Берклей, бедняга, – слабоумен.

      Но ты будь чуточку разумен.

      А дилетант? Да будет он

      в конце концов изобличен.

      О люди, люди. Времена!

      То бишь “о tempora, о mores!”*

      Последний – побеждает в споре

      надменным росчерком пера.

      О, праведность апостерьори!

      Читал я рукопись вчера.

      Climbing ancient folios —

      The story of “Twin Peaks”

      I had tried the challenges

      Of logical intrigues.

      “Plato was a thinking master.

      Hegel – artful comic’s waiter,

      Kant – was passions criticaster,

      Of unjustified furore.”

      And who are you, monsignor?

      They were shamed and humbled later!

      “Hume and Berkeley. Devil’s Britain!

      Their wills were vaguely written

      In irregular illusion.”

      That’s a general conclusion…

      The God, the Strength. O tempera, o mores!

      The latest heroes have their “summum jus”!

      This of routine and regular misuse —

      The social deeds to ease the open sores,

      The common battle of unwelcome news”.

      Such is the truth – capricious seigniors!..

      Римлянки юной пылает лицо,

      вот рука ее, взвившись, упала небрежно,

      так она укрощает алчущих плоти.

      Нахалы, сия госпожа не для вас!

      Почему так мужают предметы,

      а чувства бледнеют?

      Римлянки юной уже никогда не увижу.

      Делают деньги одни,

      другие с политикой спят – сутенеры,

      третьим – в конюшне уместнее

      резвость свою проявлять.

      …Why are the subjects getting more mature,

      And feelings, alas, turning decorated!?

      Money! It is an aim for some persons.

      Others? It’s fitting for their passion to be realised in a stable!
