      I know that Thy blessed Presence alone is life complete, unbroken peace, an island of eternal joy.

      Lesson.

      No one can have a monopoly of spirituality. No one can claim exclusive right to it. It is not something cut and dried. Spirituality means getting away from all that is calculating, cold and hard. No one can rob us of it except when we ourselves yield to our lower instincts.

      Prayer.

      Help me to give myself to complete spiritual union with the Source of strength and illumination.

      Lift me above all bondage and weakness.

      Make my mind so free and one-pointed that it may be full of strength.

      May I turn towards the Light,

      That Light which reveals, the Light that redeems;

      To that Light which restores and replenishes.

       JANUARY NINTH

      Salient Thought for the Day.

      If we keep ourselves ever close to the Great Eternal One, nothing can go wrong with us.

      Lines to Memorize.

      My soul is at peace since the dawn.

      A cool breeze of new hope hath soothed my troubled heart—

      Yea, the weight of life hath fallen from me.

      I am bathed; I am refreshed in this new life

      That Thou hast mercifully shed upon me, Thy undeserving child!

      Lesson.

      Spiritual life means renewal in everything, new ideas, new thoughts, new life. Even the body is renewed and sanctified. We have constant opportunity to prove that we are God’s children. How Not by works, but by our love, by our service, by our life.

      Prayer.

      May the Divine Mother give me spiritual joy

      And make my heart free from all doubt an despair.

      May my thoughts and prayers always b directed towards Her.

      May She fill my heart more and more wit selfless love, humility, patience, gentleness, an egolessness.

      May holiness and peace reign in my life.

       JANUARY TENTH

      Salient Thought for the Day.

      Think what it means to every man that, as he walks through life, he is eternally with God.

      Lines to Memorize.

      Thou art my life’s consummation,

      My abode of unbroken rest;

      I lay at Thy transcendent Feet

      My weary heart, for its peace.

      Lesson.

      In the midst of the crowd we can have quietude. There is a sense of aloneness in the spiritual life—not loneliness; because we never feel lonely when we have spiritual consciousness within us. We feel the Presence and that Presence seems to give us a sense of aloofness from the turbulence of the world. Loneliness is an interior condition. It does not come from being alone; one can be very lonely when surrounded by many people. That man is never lonely who lives close to God.

      Prayer.

      O Thou Unbounded Spirit of the Universe,

      Make me to feel Thy nearness, that my mind may be freed from all doubt and fear.

      May I find Thy Presence everywhere.

      May I perceive Thy beauty and sublimity in all things.

      Give unto me true devotion.

      May I always feel that Thou art my Resting-place,

      My Source of inspiration and joy.

       JANUARY ELEVENTH

      Salient Thought for the Day.

      Never fail to be watchful that you may be ready for the call.

      Lines to Memorize.

      I heard a voice call me at early dawn . . . .

      I stopped and listened;

      I strained my hearing;

      My mind stretched its wings but with no avail.

      Now I have surrendered.

      Come then, O mysterious One!

      Tell me, why didst Thou call me?

      I must know Thy will.

      Lesson.

      If we learn to do what is given us with an exalted spirit of consecration, then our actions will bear fruit in abundance. Our life becomes fruitful only when we do things with noble motive. The work itself is neither good nor bad, but the motive which actuates us determines the merit or demerit of every action. The highest motive in all action is when it is inspired by some spiritual Ideal.

      Prayer.

      O Supreme Spirit, who abides within all!

      Awaken in my heart a living consciousness of Thee

      That in the midst of all fleeting conditions I may ever remain watchful.

      May I never fail to serve Thee with my whole heart and soul.

      Grant unto me strength, steadfastness and firm faith.

       JANUARY TWELFTH

      Salient Thought for the Day.

      Be faithful above everything.

      Lines to Memorize.

      My heart is Thy throne, . . . .

      Humility is its pedestal;

      Faith its cornerstone;

      Prayers are its sweet frankincense.

      The lamp of my life will burn day and night
