In the meantime
Praising the God I do not know
I sing the name of the Most High
Just in case
I would prove a fool
To make you mine enemy
Praise God from whom all blessings flow
Yes Ma’am
Psalm Eight
1 O God, our Lord, How excellent is thy name in all the earth,Who hast set thy glory upon the heavens!2 Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings Hast thou established strength,Because of thine adversaries,That thou mightest still the enemy and the avenger.3 When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers,The moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained;4 What is man, that thou art mindful of him?And the son of man, that thou visitest him?5 For thou hast made him but little lower than God,And crownest him with glory and honor.6 Thou makest him to have dominion over the works of thy hands;Thou hast put all things under his feet:7 All sheep and oxen,Yea, and the beasts of the field,8 The birds of the heavens, and the fish of the sea,Whatsoever passeth through the paths of the seas.9 O God, our Lord,How excellent is thy name in all the earth!
Lord, Lord
How majestic your name in all the earth!
Lord, how impossible a term
For anyone who’s labored under lords
And examined the experience
Nothing could be more human and more corrupt
Than what passes for nobility
Do you truly want praise?
And worship?
Why is that?
Would you not rather we be
The beings you have made?
Something does not add up here
When we consider your heavens
The work of your hands
The moon and the stars
The Milky Way
Trillions of stars they say
Nothing compares to our DNA
Yet we are incomplete
Damaged masterworks
What exactly did you have in mind?
What is the end game here?
We used to be told
You made us rulers of the earth
Everything under our feet:
All flocks and herds,
The animals of the wild,
Cheetahs, aardvarks, ostriches, bears
Red tailed hawks, eagles, deer Spiny lobsters, soft shelled crabs,
Great white sharks, king cobras, cod of course
Burmese pythons,
Maine coon cats, meow
Surely these majestic beings were not meant to lie
Beneath our feet,
Surely we can marvel
At the grandeur of creation
Without needing to control the animals
As we control ourselves.
Psalm Nine
1 I will give thanks unto God with my whole heart;I will show forth all thy marvellous works.2 I will be glad and exult in thee;I will sing praise to thy name, O thou Most High.3 When mine enemies turn back,They stumble and perish at thy presence.4 For thou hast maintained my right and my cause;Thou sittest in the throne judging righteously.5 Thou hast rebuked the nations, thou hast destroyed the wicked;Thou hast blotted out their name for ever and ever.6 The enemy are come to an end, they are desolate for ever; And the cities which thou hast overthrown,The very remembrance of them is perished.7 But God sitteth as king for ever:He hath prepared his throne for judgment;8 And he will judge the world in righteousness,He will minister judgment to the peoples in uprightness.9 God also will be a high tower for the oppressed,A high tower in times of trouble;10 And they that know thy name will put their trust in thee; For thou, God, hast not forsaken them that seek thee.11 Sing praises to God, who dwelleth in Zion:Declare among the people his doings.12 For he that maketh inquisition for blood remembereth them;He forgetteth not the cry of the poor.13 Have mercy upon me, O God;Behold my affliction which I suffer of them that hate me,Thou that liftest me up from the gates of death;14 That I may show forth all thy praise. In the gates of the daughter of Zion I will rejoice in thy salvation.15 The nations are sunk down in the pit that they made:In the net which they hid is their own foot taken.16 God hath made himself known, he hath executed judgment:The wicked is snared in the work of his own hands. 17 The wicked shall be turned back unto Sheol,Even all the nations that forget God.18 For the needy shall not alway be forgotten,Nor the expectation of the poor perish for ever.19 Arise, O God; let not man prevail:Let the nations be judged in thy sight.20 Put them in fear, O God:Let the nations know themselves to be but men.
Gratitude is all, proclaims the prudent man
The mentally healthy according to form
What fool cannot be grateful for a sunny day?
Make fun if you will of June Moon Spoon
Cuddle up a little closer
In these days of reported provocation and abuse
The Universe delivers still
We sing of wind and rain and even hurricanes
Our enemies stumble
The Nazis and the Japanese destroyed
Only to rise with new generations
Remembering nothing that went before
Not bombs
Not torture
Not prayers of the faithful
On either coast
In the land of former immigrants and savages
There’s a church on every corner
Hallelujah and amen
