      Introduction

For quite some years now, the disease known as burnout continues to spread. It even goes so far as to becoming an epidemic and not only endangering the afflicted, but also their environment, families, friends and employers and even influencing the entire economy.

What kind of illness is this?

      Is it new?

Is it contagious because it spreads so fast?

Is it caused by a virus?

      What are the symptoms?

Do they take a pre-defined course?

Once infected by the disease, is there a chance of healing?

Are there specialists with successful therapies?

Is there a general cause for this disease and is there a vaccine to prevent it?

All these questions can be answered with Yes – even if you might disagree with me at the moment.

Continue reading and discover the healing potential in the following Jin Shin exercises. With this method you have the chance to bring yourself back in tune – with the help of your own hands.

And the wonderful thing is you can‘t make any mistakes by trying.

      BurnOut

Total exhaustion, another name for burnout, has always existed, depending on personal or social circumstances. Just a few examples include famine, war, depression, exploitation, but of course the list goes on and on.

But the kind of exhaustion called ‘burnout’ is new and specifically a sign of our times:

Instant communication, continuous availability and maximising profit while simultaneously minimising time and costs.

At first, we are enthused and the enthusiasm moves us. What moves us also touches our soul. With this strong motivation, one works for the success of one’s company, department, research, plans and network. One is goal oriented, which leads to forgetting about oneself until one is exhausted and has lost one’s connection to the soul, while not knowing that one is already infected by the virus, like a computer virus.

The latency period is difficult to determine. It depends on the strength of the initial enthusiasm and the ensuing disillusionment, as well as on the self-regulatory coping mechanisms of the individual.

The intermediate stages or symptoms up to a fully diagnosed ‘burnout’ are numerous and can manifest themselves in many forms.

Generally they can be summarised as such:

      Intensive, heightened work enthusiasm,

      neglecting of own needs,

      reduced effectiveness and productivity,

      minimising social contacts and withdrawal,

behavioural changes culminating in an existential crisis.

      Physical afflictions:

      sleeplessness though being tired,

      nervous prostration,

aching of all kinds, from headaches, back complaints to heart disease.

      Psychological problems:

decrease in self-esteem combined with worry,

      anger,

      sadness and

      depression.

All that leads to a stagnation in the flow of life, heightened pressure on organs and physical, mental, emotional and intellectual exhaustion.

Now, where best to begin with a therapy?

      BurnInside

As already mentioned, something can burn only if there is some kind of fuel. In our case this is shown through the enthusiasm, ability and the personal commitment to a cause. There is the strong will to achieve something, but in order to perform, we continuously need energy which we gain by human self-regulation.

If we continuously need more energy than what naturally flows into us, the connection to our source of energy, be it universal or cosmic, becomes endangered.

For this reason, the afflicted often describe their symptoms with:

      “My battery is empty”

      “I have no energy left”

      “I feel disconnected”

“I don’t feel myself any longer”

      “I have lost myself” …

Common recommendations to treat the individual symptoms are to do sports, actively cultivate social connections, participate in courses of self-discovery, discover the inner child and much more.

Nevertheless, the main cause for all the diverse afflictions and subsequent methods of therapy remains:

We have lost access to ourselves, to our soul and consequently to our universal fountain of energy that maintains, nourishes and heals us.

Following Asian teachings, each of our sensitivities and each affliction is the result of a disturbed, imbalanced or interrupted energy flow.

The American physician Dr. Eric Pearl therefore calls his method ‚reconnection‘. This is exactly what happens, with the easy to do exercises of the Jin Shin healing art, almost on its own.

With your own hands or the knowledgeable hands of Jin Shin practitioners, you can reconnect with the source of all sources, the fountain of life energy and re-energise your resources. This way you become more centred and aware, with a positive attitude and enjoyment of life.

This is also the quintessence to reconnect with our divine centre, our soul, ourself, to heal and replenish ourselves. The earlier we start and train our abilities, the better for our bodies defences because it takes effect like a vaccination. Why else do people with high stress levels, discover the silence and comforts of monastic life to replenish their energy level?

The Evolution of a Disease and the Re-evolution via the Jin Shin Healing Art

As previously described, the disease burnout is a collection of discomforts, which gradually accumulate or more specifically spiral within the body.

Energy generally flows in a spiral helix form. Outside of the body, we call it the universal or cosmic energy, and inside of the body, it is the life energy. This evokes the image of a helix spiraling always deeper into the body.
