       CONCEPT AND DIRECTION: CORA BISSETT

Cora Bissett is an actor/director/musician and Artistic Director of Pachamama. After surviving formative years in a major record deal and subsequent rock-n-roll swindle, Cora trained at RSAMD and has gone on to work in an incredibly eclectic range of theatre styles professionally for the past fourteen years. She won The Stage Award for Best Actress for her role in the Traverse Production of David Greig’s hit rom-com Midsummer in 2009 which went on tour internationally and will launch an Australia-wide tour at Sydney Opera House in 2012. She won the Arches Award for New Directors in 2008 and devised and directed her first professional production Amada based on an Isabel Allende short story, which toured nationally and gained critical acclaim and a CATS nomination for Best Use of Music in Theatre. She has also directed freelance for the RSAMD (Fugee) and Oran Mor (Hephaestos), and directed the world premiere of David Greig’s Ramallah at the Tron Theatre as part of The Mayfesto Season. RoadKill, her multi-award-winning production, premiered at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2010 and garnered 9 awards. It recently enjoyed a sold-out run in Paris, and will transfer to the Barbican in London presented as part of their BITE season with Theatre Royal Stratford East in October 2011 before touring to further international dates.
